The only reason many of us even learned about this amazing photo sharing site,
is from others posting some of the local content on other photo sharing sites,
seeing the "CelebUtopia" name in the links, and we became members here.
Every site has its feeders, that move from site to site, copying and posting
as they go along. From here to superiorpics, from superiorpics to here,
etc. and so on, Most forums count on them, or traffic would be much lower.
BUT
I think
this is the new smart bots, and they are posting whole pages at a time
to these new sites popping up that aren't about the photo sharing,
its about spam, spyware, malware, etc.
If CelebUtopia could possibly go hardcore like, "GETTY", and disable "right klik",
and watermark EVERYTHING, and charge for CelebUtopia content,
depending on it's popularity.
And then after time, start restricting those contributors that aren't really
posting anything of a viable market value.
then everything would be much more secure,
and we wouldn't have to worry
much about being part of
that mainstream photo sharing community, and those fans that like to
move the photos around from site to site!
A bit harsh, but it would solve your "leecher" problem to a point,
untill that is, the bots get around it...
BUT DONT THINK FOR A MINUTE Celebutopia, and all the others photo
sharing websites arent monitored,
because lots of celebs, and agents and managers rely on them for publicity.
If you decide watermark a photo you didn't physically snap,
or have permission from the subject to claim some type of ownership,
or claim its YOURS, but its ACTUALLY public domain,
you can be in BIG trouble, and get sued, or at the least, get a threatening
letter from an attorney giving CelbUtopia serious REAL LIFE ultimatums.
No one owns public domain content just because they found it
and made a nice pretty post from it,
and their are some that get VERY upset when you try to act like you do.
For example, the famous photographer Munoz,
if you TRY to claim OWNERSHIP to any of his Jennifer Lawrence photoshoot pictures,
that he has purposely released on these forums for publicity for
Jennifer after the success of "The Hunger "games, he will have his lawyer
contact the CelebUtopia owner, not the admins, or the mods,
with a cease and desist order. and then we have a huge problem here.
I just watched this happen on another poular site.
Those that REALLY own these photos don't want someone laying claim
in any way to their work, or their business.
I just enjoy being a member and having the oppurtunity to enjoy all the photos!
and save the ones I really like... I would hate to see that all come to an end!
BUT
business is business!
it's not personal... Use a large hammer my mum always says!
just my own inconsequential thoughts on the matter!
see ya...
