"Page Not Found" error creating new thread
« on: October 29, 2009, 12:36:26 PM »
I'm trying to post a third set of screencaps from The Dead Zone S2E04 and I when I click on "Submit New Thread" I get this error:
"Whoops! That Page Isn't Here

If you are looking for a specific post, please use the search bar at the top of the page."

I get the same error just trying to preview the post.

If I knew what I was doing do you think I'd still be doing it?

When you do this, have you just done a search - maybe to find the original thread?  The only time anybody has reported a "Whoops!" message is when they do a search and they click on a result link that contains an apostrophe (')

The system chokes on this because it doesn't handle this link properly.  You think, "How can this be?  It clearly exists!" but in reality, when you click on a result, the system parses, or re-interprets, the link.  When it sees a "'" it thinks that it has reached the end of the address (the URL)  But since it now has, in effect, only a partial URL, it cannot be found - and therefore, the "Whoops!" message.

Mal: "They were dolls."
Inara: "They were little geisha dolls with big heads that wobbled!"

No, I hadn't done a search.  I had just posted two new threads.  I wasn't adding a reply to an existing thread, this was creating a new thread.

It gets even weirder.  I was able to post after changing the phrase "from the TV series" to "in the TV series" in the body of the post.  But I used the phrase "from the TV series" in the two threads I started just before.

Ok, now this officially beats the heck out of me.  I'm stumped.
